M4800 - sd card (microdia?) not recognized

Hi everybody,

First, sorry if my thread was already treated but I didn't find anything directly on this forum or in Google about my problem and my configuration. I tried many thing but nothing works.

So, I have a Dell M4800 under GnomeShell (3.16.3). I think that my internal SD card reader is not recognized. If I insert a SD before or after boot it's the same thing.

lsblk (with a SD card inserted):

Re: M4800 - sd card (microdia?) not recognized

Run dmesg before you insert an sdcard and then insert one. Is there any new output?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … sion_M4800

You should have a PCI-based SDHC but there's none. Check dmesg, there likely was some error during PCI enumeration or sdhci_acpi initialization.

Re: M4800 - sd card (microdia?) not recognized

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. I checked my dmesg: there is no error and I see those lines :

[ 0.503963] sdhci: Secure Digital Host Controller Interface driver
[ 0.503965] sdhci: Copyright(c) Pierre Ossman

I tried under Ubuntu and it is exactly the same thing. And I test with another M4800 (same configuration but under Ubuntu) and it's worked.

So, I think this a an hardware problem. I will contact Dell asap and test with Windows (but I have to install it ...)

Thanks for your help

Re: M4800 - sd card (microdia?) not recognized

Make sure you check the bios, I doubt that you can disable the card reader there but it doesn't hurt to check.

Hi R00KIE,

Yes, I already checked the BIOS wink and you can't disable it.

Thanks
