How can I install Impress or any other presentation software?

I would like to install LibreOffice Impress to open a pptx document. Formerly I was able to install Libreoffice and it contained the needed program. Right now I am able to install LibreOffice, but I can see no links / shortcuts in the Office menus. Is Impress installed by default? Or what is the appropriate package name to install Impress or maybe other presentation software which is able to open pptx files?

What do you mean there are no links in the office menus?  What office menus?  If libreoffice is installed, just type `loffice /path/to/your/presentation.pptx`.

Re: How can I install Impress or any other presentation software?

Thank you very much. I tried to type "libreoffice"...
I meant the "start" menu of XFCE, which contains a submenu Office, and usually when libreoffice or openoffice is installed i can find shortcuts in that menu, but now they are totally absent. However typing "loffice" works. Thx again.

Are you sure the respective .desktop files are present in your system?

For instance, there should be

/usr/share/applications/libreoffice-impress.desktop
