[Solved] Using control+u leaves the first ten characters of a line

Hello I've encountered a very bizarre and annoying bug. If I'm in a bash shell (either terminal or CLI) if I have a line that is longer than 15 characters, when I try to clear it with control+u, it leaves the first 10 characters. These characters don't actually affect what I type, but they don't go away even if I hit delete. How can I get rid of this?

Broken prompt? Force setting the $TERM? Please provide more details about your environment, including your shell initialisation files.
