I can start Nautilus as root:
$ sudo nautilus
(nautilus:2631): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files
Previously, I could start it as user after I ran it as root, but today I can't:
$ nautilus
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport: assertion 'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport: assertion 'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed
Could not register the application: Timeout was reached
(nautilus:2708): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_icon_theme_get_for_screen: assertion 'GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_object: assertion 'G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix it?
EDIT: Returning to the PC after lunch I found 8 opened Nautilus windows. Nautilus opens now flawlessly. So I am considering this as something connected with rebooting the system.

My nautilus also doesn't start. After starting nautilus from terminal I get the following messages:
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport: assertion 'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed
(nautilus:2708): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport: assertion 'interface_->priv->connections != NULL' failed
I also noticed that gedit doesn't start either, when I try to start it from terminal I get no output..
