Mint and Apricity are silent, but in Arch the fan noise is loud

Hello,

Got 3-pins fans which I got an controller for. The two that aren't controlled are the PSU and Nvidia fans. Wondering why Arch is so noisy, while Mint and Apricity aren't? Tried Ubuntu Gnome, and it was as bad too.

I don't know what that means.

Did you read the wiki?

NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Control for the cpu and cabinet fans. Can I really limit the speed of the Nvidia 760 fan to let's say 40% with the speed control?

If you are using the open-source nVidia driver, nouveau, then that is noisy.  See its wiki page for how you can adjust the fan manually.  If you use the proprietary nVidia driver then its power management is much better and the fans are quieter.

Thank you. I will try that. smile

+ Running Mint with Nouveau and it's as silent as Windows.
