Unable to copy a file to an external drive

I'm facing a strange problem of being unable to copy-paste  a certain file to my external HDD.
Error displayed:- Could not write to run/media/(my_hostname)/(external HDD's name)/(file).zip

Even tried copying with terminal, as root, still got the message Cannot create regular file: (path/file) : Permission Denied.

Please help me out someone? sad

Can you copy other files to that directory? What are the permissions on the target directory and the source file? Filesystems and mount options, ls -l, lsattr, getfacl?

No, untill yesterday everything was fine. but I guess I forgot to un-mount my external HDD, because I was downloading something and had set my pc to shutdown at a time, using the terminal.

I even tried changing the ext. hdd permissions, using chmod to 777, and it executed, but even then, I am unable to copy file to my external HDD, although, there's not a read problem from the external HDD problem encountered.

Here is the entry in the mount-log:-

/dev/sdb1 on /run/media/(username)/(ext. hdd name) type ntfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,uid=1000,gid=100,fmask=0177,dmask=077,nls=utf8,errors=continue,mft_zone_multiplier=1,uhelper=udisks2)

Not a Sysadmin issue, moving to NC...
