How to restore the menu to default in KDE

My menu in KDE is full of apps that I now longer have installed.  I can only assume that this is a hang over from an old bug because, as I understand it, KDE is clever enough to add menu entries when things are there and remove them when they are not.

So, how can I regenerate/restore my menu to a basic format without creating a whole new profile?
