Use Rsync to Back Up Windows System

Hey all,

Today I configured a dual-boot system (Arch & Windows 8.1 for now). I was pleased to be able to use rsync to back my existing Arch install and move it to its new partition. Can rsync be used in the same manner to back up and restore the Windows portion of my system? That would make weekly system backups unbelievably simple.

Thanks in advance,
Drake

Re: Use Rsync to Back Up Windows System

The problem with rsync is that afaik it doesn't care about windows permissions, just like windows programs don't care about linux permissions. Windows is also relatively picky about being "simply" copied to another location, so I think for windows a full (compressed) partition image is still the way to go.
