[SOLVED*]root: Login incorrect and unable to unlock partition from USB

Hi,

in an attempt to install the nvidia graphics driver for my gpu I tried to disable nouveau:

echo nouveau >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

After rebooting I can't login anymore. I am absolutely sure sure that I type the right password. I checked keymaps and capslock etc..

derheimel login: root
Password:
Login incorrect

Then I booted from a live usb and tried to unlock my encrypted root partition to revert my last action, but this doesn't work either:

root@archiso ~ # cryptsetup open --type luks /dev/sda7 root
Enter passphrase for /dev/sda7:
No key available with this passphrase.

Again I am absolutely sure that I used the correct password.

I am not sure if this is relevant, but I also tried to encrypt my swap partition, since I disabled nouveau I get an additional prompt at startup that asks me to enter a passphrase for the swap and then results in an error.
This is the thread for the swap problem: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=203678

Thanks

Correct keymap? Checked the keyboard for defects?

Yes, I checked everything I possibly could. I ended up formatting and reinstalling the whole setup. Now everything is good and I have a backup.
