pam_systemd(login:session): Failed to release session on shutdown

This message appears in journalctl after every shutdown or reboot:

pam_systemd(login:session): Failed to release session: Interrupted system call

Here's a little more context:

My google fu has failed me, and I can't find anything concrete in forum search. I read `man pam_systemd`, `man pam` and `man logind.conf`. The only idea I have at this point is to set KillUserProcesses to yes in logind.conf, but I don't see why that would be necessary.

I noticed one thing that was strange though after reading `man pam_systemd`:

On login, this module ensures the following:

1. If it does not exist yet, the user runtime directory /run/user/$USER is created and its ownership changed to the user that is logging in.

This is strange because $USER is "dave", but there is no /run/user/dave on my system - only /run/user/1000. Related?

Here $USER refers to your UID (or user id) and not to your user name.

However, I see that message too, but my system works fine. If you do not experience any issue, I think you can just ignore it.
