I've got a user set up on my machine to solely run a Kodi session - this user is non privileged so I have it's home directory set up with rxw permissions; essentially it acts as a store for all my media. The home directory is actually another drive which is owned by root, but has a default group that this user is member of, the group has rwx permissions and the folder itself has rwx permission. I've verified that the user can actually write to this folder/it's home directory.
However I'm experiencing problems with pulseaudio - the daemon will not start and I'm getting this message in the journal: "[pulseaudio] core-util.c: Home directory not accessible: Permission denied". This doesn't make sense to me, as I said the user can definitely write to it's home directory, create folders, delete and execute.
My personal account does not have these issues, but then my account is a member of the wheel group (administrator). Does pulseaudio require anything special to run?
Thanks
