Hey,
I just installed Arch in the weekend, after a long linux hiatus of maybe 8 years or so... things seem mostly fine and Arch feels as snappy as I remember it, but I have a few minor display gripes.
1. My main display is connected to my Nvidia GTX 970 using Displayport. I also have a TV / receiver combo connected through Hdmi. All terminal output seems to be sent to the receiver / TV, even if they are off. Is there some way to prioritize the Displayport connection?
2. I'm have a Nvidia GTX 970 gpu and had to set the kernel flag 'nomodeset' to see terminal output at all. Am I missing out on something?
cheers,
nik

Which nvidia driver are you using? Because modesetting only works with nouveau AFAIK and I don't think GTX 970 has good nouveau support. I suggest you give the official nvidia blob a try if you aren't using it already.

Thanks x33a. Yeah I'm already using the proprietary nvidia drivers, haven't even tried the open-source ones tbh... Any idea how good they are these days? Do they compare?
What about the Displayport / Hdmi issue. Is there a way to make sure the terminal uses the Displayport? Or mirrors to both?

nouveau drivers are coming along nicely, but the latest or high end hardware usually has issues with them. As for the displayport/hdmi issue, unfortunately I don't have any solution.
