[SOLVED] White Noise on ThinkPad T440 when headphones are plugged in.

I am runninf Arch with Gnome 3.18. This happened on 3.16 also.  When I plug headphones in, I can hear a slight white noise (like a faint hiss) in both ear cups.  I did not have this problem when Windows was on this machines.

Anyone ever hear anything like this?

I can confirm some noise (not sure about the color) for a X240, but I don't have any comparison to other OSs. Never considered this a problem.

Put:

blacklist snd_hda_codec_realtek

in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf

What does this do?

How do you like the X240?

Ok...

I got a kernel update a few hours ago.  Did a shutdown of my laptop and when it came back up, the problem appears to be gone.  I just made the sound.conf file and was about to reboot when I remembered the kernel update and decided to plug headphones in.  Dead silent now.
