Hello,
I have updated to gnome 2.14 on two different machines and I have found these problems on both:
-Firstly, the command-line panel applet is gone. I use this all the time and the run-command thing is as inconvenient as opening a terminal window.
-Also, the "<user>'s Home" icon seems to reset it's position every time I log in. In my case, it ends up almost on top of another icon. I can move it, but it will move back if I log out and back in.
Otherwise, 2.14 is great. And these aren't huge functionality problems, but annoyances. I would really like my command-line applet back, but I can live with the resetting icon location. If anyone else has run into this or knows what's wrong, please tell.
Thanks

I'm not entirely sure but it seems that the command line applet has been replaced by the "Run Application" applet. Anyway it does the same thing, theres just a few more mouse clicks involved.
fck art, lets dance.

for the user's home icon on the desktop, try going to applications > system tools > configuration editor. once there, select the apps section, then nautiuls, then desktop. check to see if home_icon_visible is checked. if so, uncheck it and that will be gone for you.

That doesn't fix anything, we're assuming that he wants the Home folder on his desktop. If he didn't want it he would have phrased it as such.

deskbar-applet can start apps by typing
you use the plugins you like from it.

Thanks for the responses.
Yeah, the deskbar thing does replace the command line applet and it has a bunch of other stuff too.
I want to keep the home thing on the desktop, but I guess I could get rid of it in the gconf-editor and then make a custom one.
Thanks again.
