[Solved]Mini DisplayPort not working with DisplayLink (ThinkPad T450s)

I've tried to install displaylink, as described at DisplayLink, to attach an external monitor. I think I've done everything right (I got it running on my ThinkPad T420s).

systemctl | grep displaylink

yields

displaylink.service loaded active running DisplayLink Manager Service

so the service is running. Running

xrandr --listproviders

yields

Providers: number : 1
Provider 0: id: 0x47 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 3 outputs: 5 associated providers: 0 name:modesetting

and

xrandr

outputs

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
eDP-0 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 309mm x 174mm

   320x240 60.05
DisplayPort-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DisplayPort-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

It says that the display port is not connected (even though it is).

Has anyone experienced any similar issues? Any hints how I could approach this problem?

Re: [Solved]Mini DisplayPort not working with DisplayLink (ThinkPad T450s)

I just wanted to give you a heads up that I figured out my (incredibly stupid) mistake. As it turns out, my monitor has two display ports, one for input and one for output. As you might have guessed by now, I plugged in the cable at the output port.

Now everything is working perfectly.
