small window prob with kde apps on fluxbox

hey. first of thanks to everyone who have contributed to my other posts which has often led to a solution. here's another one,

I've got fluxbox on my laptop and would like to keep it, more or less, 'lightweight' - that is, I don't need to run a full desktop, however I've installed a few QT apps with required kdelibs, but not KDE. They all run good but when I open a file in these apps the small open file... window isn't scalable and I just get a slit at the top in which it is nearly impossible to navigate to another directory, do you know what I mean?
