Sometime after the last update I did, my gnome terminal emulator doesn't come up anymore. It shows in the 'toolbar' of my gnome session, doing as if it will start shortly, then it disappears. Can someone point me to where I can find a clue to this issue?
What I have done so far:
I have checked my locale settings
I have checked my regional settings in gnome
I have re-installed gnome-terminal
Allas, to no avail.

This reminds me a little of problems I had with a kernel that had kdbus enabled. If you are using a kernel like that, try adding kdbus=0 to the kernel's command line to see if that's it.

Can you try to start it from another xterm (install one like xfce4-terminal) which might provide some more info when it crashes or reports something missing?

CPU-optimized Linux-ck packages @ Repo-ck • AUR packages • Zsh and other configs

Thanks for your replies.
I installed another VTE from which I got this error:
$ gnome-terminal
Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited: Process org.gnome.Terminal exited with status 10
This led me to bug 46374 via this post
I'll try the suggested solution after this post and let you know whether it worked!
