Hey there,
since I am experiencing heavy problems with the Linux 4.2.4-1 and 4.2.5-1 Kernels on my Acer Machine, I though of giving the LTS Kernel a try.
How exactly do I install it?
sudo pacman -S linux-lts
and after that
sudo mkinicpio -p linux-lts
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Or am I missing any steps? Sorry I couldn't find any trustworthy sources online and I've never played around with anything than the standard kernel.
Thanks in advance!

You run "pacman -S linux-lts", mkinitcpio gets run automatically, you generate new grub.cfg with grub-mkconfig.

this doesn't seem to work for me:
[martin@Saturn ~]$ uname -r
4.2.5-1-ARCH
On the How-to I read it said i need to update the
/boot/grub/menu.lst
but I can't find that file.
I did like you said, installed linux-lts and ran
grub-mkconfig
but nothing changed.

What How-to? And how can you not find your bootloader config?

in the ArchBang wiki. In the Arch Linux Wiki it just sait "Bootloader Configuration File" without specifying it any further.
[martin@Saturn grub]$ ls
fonts grub.cfg grub.cfg.example grubenv i386-pc locale themes
there is no menu.lst.
And like I said, I ran
grub-mkconfig
so I think there should be no need to edit the grub.cfg.

Problems and questions concerning kernel and hardware support.
It doesn't say the threads need to be refering to kernel issues. I had a question regarding the kernel and according to the subforums description it should be allowed to ask there.
Anyway, I didn't want to make a mess. Sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

If you are using Archbang, then ask on their boards, we only support Arch.
If you are using Arch, then use the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GRUB#Configuration

You need to add an entry for linux-lts in your bootloader config, and select it when booting (or set it as default).
however, if you're using ArchBang, you should ask in their forums: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … pport_ONLY

I am not using Arch Bang, I just read their wiki because I could not find the answer I needed in the Arch Wiki.
Anyway, the LTS Kernel is running now.
I just ran
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
for the second time and I can choose the LTS Kernel in the grub menu now.

Please use the Arch wiki in future. And remember to mark your thread as [Solved] by editing your first post and prepending it to the title.

Yep, I did. Thanks for providing such a great forum, by the way!
