I honestly don't have a clue at all. Just the obvious at "assertion 'session != NULL' failed".

Re: [SOLVED] Nvidia drivers messing up external monitors

xsession-errors:

/usr/bin/light-locker: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/etc/lightdm/Xsession: line 63: /usr/bin/VBoxClient-all: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/gnome-session/gnome-session-binary: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I saw somewhere that this might work:

$ pkgfile libGLU.so.1
extra/glu
multilib/lib32-glu

Which did nothing. I will keep looking.

I think this is the closest:

Re: [SOLVED] Nvidia drivers messing up external monitors

It is something in lib32-nvidia/mesa-libgl and nvidia/mesa-libgl. I replaced the nvidia ones with mesa and I finally got this thing to login, sort of.
The UI is all messed up, icons and shell. Some windows are just blank. I guess that's some progress.

You have a mixture of 355 and 340 there so the symlinks provided by nvidia-libgl 355.11-1 will not be pointing to the libraries provided by nvidia-utils 340.

Re: [SOLVED] Nvidia drivers messing up external monitors

I know mesa is not supposed to be installed but I though that would do something and it did, at least we know there's something no right on nvidia-libgl and lib32-nvidia-libgl.

Right now the multiple monitor setup is not connected.

I don't know how useful are all this logs since the problem is on the nvidia-libgl packages but here they are.

I know mesa is not supposed to be installed but I though that would do something and it did, at least we know there's something no right on nvidia-libgl and lib32-nvidia-libgl.

I was expecting you to replace:
nvidia-libgl 355.11-1 with nvidia-340xx-libgl 340.93-1
lib32-nvidia-libgl 355.11-1 with lib32-nvidia-340xx-libgl 340.93-1
lib32-nvidia-utils 355.11-1 with lib32-nvidia-340xx-utils 340.93-1
So all the nvidia packages were from the same release.
Did you do this?
Installing mesa should not conflict with anything did you mean mesa-libgl which does conflict?

Re: [SOLVED] Nvidia drivers messing up external monitors

Wow, solved. Now everything nvidia related is working nice.
Just the icons and shell are still the gnome default which are ugly as hell.
Just discovered a problem, not related to nvidia.

The Gnome password propt that pops up doesn't do a thing.
And some icons and buton images are just not there which is a problem.

Any ideas?

I would mark this thread as solved then and start a seperate thread for that issue.
From How_to_post

Choose one topic per thread. Long threads are typically discouraged in the technical issue subforums.

Finally, when a solution is found, mark your thread as solved by editing the first post and prepending the tag [SOLVED] to the title in the "Subject" field.
Note that you should avoid using [CLOSED], which is instead used by the system to mark a thread which is no longer accessible for new posts.
