[FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Hi all, I'm having an interesting problem. Whenever I click with any button on my mouse, the cursor jumps to the far left of the screen, most of the time before clicking on whatever I'm trying to click on. I've never dealt with a mouse issue on Linux before, so if someone could help me out, or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

edit: hauptmech's fix, post #22 is the current best fix.

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Thanks Jason, but that's not the issue. I can have the mouse perfectly still, press a button, and the cursor jumps to the left of the screen

Look in Xorg's log. Check when xorg-xinput was last update, try downgrading it to see if that is the issue...

No luck, unfortunately. I downgraded but the issue remains. I had hope for that idea!

Hardware issue? Try cleaning the mouse or using another. That's all I've got.

Thanks. It's not hardware. I dual boot and it works fine on Windows. I appreciate the try though!

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

So, I tried downgrading a few packages, with the result that I actually made it so the mouse and keyboard weren't responding at all. After fixing that with a live CD I thought it might be a good idea to post my pacman log so someone can see if they can spot what else it might have been. I've gone back to the 6th, since that's the last day that it was working fine.

Downgrading xorg-xkbcomp is what stopped the mouse and keyboard working. The other two packages I downgraded with no effect were:

xf86-input-evdev
xorg-xinput

I dont' see an older version of xf86-input-mouse to try downgrading unfortunately.

EDIT: Found the previous version of xf86-input-mouse, but still no solve

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

It's that exact same mouse. I don't have one to swap with unfortunately. At least it seems we've narrowed it down to a certain mouse

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

When the mouse pointer just stops moving, which is a completely separate and rarer issue, replugging works.  However with this issue unplugging and plugging it back in isn't making any difference for me, it'll still just warp to the left edge of the screen the second I click.  Thanks for the input and hopefully it works for others having the issue, though.

I guess a little bit more info: For some reason left, middle, and right click move the pointer all the way to the left of the screen, but the G9-G16 buttons make the cursor jump to the top of the screen.  Strangely enough, while held they move the cursor to different vertical locations on the screen so G9 will move it just a few pixels under the top of the screen before warping to the top and each button after that moves it further down the screen when held until warping to the top.

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Ok i think I found some temporaly fix
watch this video it was a problem on ubuntu but it works to me at the end I need to do this as super user:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdr4ENZqU38

You need to identify what is your is id mouse to do that run this command:

 sudo xinput list

then you need check your mouse id you will see two id of g600 so must be a number in my case was 150 and  you will an id as 9 and 10 these can be different in your pc:
so then do this to fix it on terminal

sudo xinput set-prop 9 150 1
sudo xinput set-prop 10 150 0

First try to run the lower id lower with 1 and the next one with 0.
This will help to recover your mouse and play nicely it works for me but watch the video it will help a lot, the video is not mine I just look it and  found it looks like was a problem with some mouse g300 and g500 years ago too.

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Thanks Cerbereus, this fix definitely helps.  It won't persist after reboot and it disables the extra buttons, so like you said, it's definitely a temporary fix, but it definitely makes the desktop usable again.

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Does the g600 have some mode button?
There are known problems with the R.A.T. mouses mode-buttons, perhaps this is a similar issue?
Have a look at this link.
It will not directly solve your issue, but might give you some understanding in a possible problem.

Storyline is that the mode-button has to be disabled, because it is not automatically released or something like that.
It also explains how to disable certain buttons. You could try disabling first all added functionality buttons and see if it works. If it does, you can enable each button one by one and see where it goes wrong.

NOTE: your mouse will have a different button-mapping!

Hope this information helps you

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

I also have this problem and when olding down the mode button (far right, next to the rigt-click button) the cursor does not jump anymore. So LCvanDinteren seems to be onto something that might cause the problem.

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

I think you should try the following:

Find and note your mouse id:

$ xinput list | grep "id"

Use the id in the following command:

$ xinput query-state <ID>

If there are buttons that are "down", there is your problem. click your mode button and run the last command again, repeat for each mode.
Each mode will have a different button down. You need to disable these buttons in your xorg.conf.

the xorg.conf entry should look something like this:

# G300 mouse
Section "InputClass"
 Identifier "Mouse Remap"
MatchProduct "Logitech G300" #Find the exact name given bij xinput list
 MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
 Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 0 0 13 14 15 16 17 18" #match the zeros on the mode buttons
EndSection

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Cerbereus' fix stopped the keyboard macros on my G600.

I did a little digging. I can't find what's changed but I can see in the Xorg log file that the keyboard part of the G600 is getting automagically recognized as a mouse and then has fake mouse properties helpfully created.

Here's what fixed it for me (allowing both mouse and keyboard macros to work):

Add an entry in /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows:

Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "G600 misconfiguration fix"
    MatchProduct "G600"
#Match just the keyboard section of the G600
    MatchIsKeyboard "true"
#evdev assumes it's a mouse when it sees the absolute axis. Stop that from happening.
    Option "IgnoreAbsoluteAxes" "on"
EndSection

OMG, thank you very much! I, too, have a G600 and was hit with this problem today. I performed an update last evening and shut down the computer. When I turned it on tonight, I was greeted with this pretty terrible problem. I was quite happy to not only find others with the exact same problem, but a fix was posted. I really appreciate it!

Thanks, man! I also downgraded some pkgs that I'll now need to livecd fix!

Re: [FIX] [Logitech G600] Mouse jumps to left on click

Well, I left this open for a while hoping that maybe an update would fix it, but it hasn't yet. It looks like for now hauptmech's fix in post #22 is the best resolution.
