Hello everybody,
Not quite sure if I'm in the right place her but lets go:
I wanted to use powertop on my laptop, but when I try to start it in the terminal I get the following error:
powertop: error while loading shared libraries: libncursesw.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
After a little reading I figred I'll update ncurses from the installed 5.9-7 to 6.0something via pacman which worked and powertop did too.
But when I tried to do anything else, like use htop or even open a terminal,it wouldn't work or give me some meaningless error. And after rebooting the system wouldn't even start up anymore. Using a live distro I got my system back by downgrading to 5.9-7.
Now the question: Is there a way to get powertop to work without wrecking my system again (and without dirty hacks alike "ln -s /usr/lib/libncursesw.so.5 /usr/lib/libncursesw.so.*") ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, eleanor1967
