Display sometimes becomes crappy.

I have no idea how to describe this problem. Please see photos below.

Display becomes like this:

But it should look like this:

It happens randomly, and recovers randomly
Reboot or changing the frame rate also fix it temporarily, re-login does not help in any way

The problem cannot be captured by screenshots, only by external cameras.
Also, it sometimes doesn't happen on all of the windows,
so I'm wondering whether it is a hardware or software issue.
BTW Xorg logs say nothing about it.

Environment:

Laptop: DELL Inspiron 14 7437
Desktop Environment: Xfce

How do I name this issue?
Is there any way to get rid of it?
Where are the logs I can look into?
Thanks.

I've tried switching to UXA, but it doesn't keep that from happening.

Re: Display sometimes becomes crappy.

Does this happen on the laptop's own screen only or also on external monitors?
This could also be temperature related. Did you monitor temperatures while this happens?

I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do.  (Gune | Titan A.E.)

It never happened on external monitors.
I haven't tried monitor temperatures, but I'll look into it.

It once happened on the log-out dialog, but not on anything else,
this makes me believe it is a software issue, but if replacing hardware would help, I'm happy to do so.

Re: Display sometimes becomes crappy.

Confirmed to be a hardware issue.
