Hi all, I recently added a 4k displayport monitor to my setup. I also have an nvidia (660ti) graphics card and use the nvidia x server settings applet to configure everything. I can get everything working properly but every time I turn off my display port monitor, it is deactivated and when I turn the monitors back on the monitor is blank and I must reactivate it in the nvidia x server settings applet.
I have tried disabling DDC/CI on the monitor as recommended in some ubuntu forum posts I found but it doesnt work. Another common "solution" recommdned is to use dvi instead of display port and this is not possible for me, I have 4 monitors so every output of my video card must be used, plus dvi does not support 4k/60fps.
Can anyone help with this issue? Thanks

I guess my only option here is to get a display port to hdmi adapter and connect the monitor that way. It will mean it will only be working at 30hz instead of 60hz but I don't have much of a choice it seems. The monitor also doesnt properly go to sleep most of the time so I cant just leave the monitor turned on all the time.

Did you try one of the newly released drivers from NVIDIA? They fixed something different about DisplayPort (fixed something about DPMS behavior), but maybe also the source for your problem. It's in the 352.63 drivers. I don't yet know about 358.16. Those 358.16, you could get with the AUR package "nvidia-full-beta-all".
EDIT: I just tried my monitor through DisplayPort instead of DVI on the 358.16 drivers. The bug it had with previous drivers was that it was not shutting down through DPMS, and this bug is now gone so it behaves like on the 352.63 drivers. You should try that "nvidia-full-beta-all" AUR package and see what happens with your problem. If you try 358.16 drivers, you could also try enabling the testing repo and get the Xorg server packages version 1.18 that are in there as that new Xorg version works with these new drivers.
EDIT2: The drivers are now also in the testing repo in the normal nvidia packages.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am going to wait until this new driver is in the main branch before trying it, I prefer not to mess around with the testing repo. Hopefully it will be sorted our and moved to the main repo soon. fingers crossed it solves the issue.
Also, I tested a display port to hdmi adapter and it solves the issue, however, the monitor running at 4k 30hz is more noticable than I expected. It also seemed to mess with the mouse sensitivity for some odd reason, so I decided not to use it.
