[SOLVED] Randomly repeating character '5'

I have a strange problem with my keyboard input. The keyboard in question is Logitech K800 (WIreless Unifying).
Altough I'm pretty sure the keyboard is not faulty, since it also happens when I shutdown the keyboard (it has an on/off button).

So the problem is:
At random times the character '5' starts repeating.
I mean if I put cursor over to a some kind of text input when this is happening, the result is 55555555555555555555555555555555....
It stops repeating when I press a button on my keyboard.
It only starts happening when I haven't pressed any keyboard buttons for a while.

This happened with my old custom built tower pc (with USB2), and now it also happens with my new Asus ROG laptop (with USB3).

It happens atleast in XFCE and KDE. I haven't tried other desktop environments.

It started happening several kernel versions ago, I don't remember which. Propably something like 4.0.x.
Though I don't know if this has anything to do with the kernel...

It's not a huge problem since it happens rather infrequently, sometimes it takes days before it happens again.

Has anyone else had this kind of behavior?

Use search, I'm sure I've already seen this issue here.

I would guess that might be some kind of interference. I see something similar with a unifying receiver when I have my mobile is near the receiver _and_ the phone's wireless is turned on.

How did you solve it for Gnome?
It does not happen on XFCE anymore but I would like to solve it for gnome.

I didn't.

But it hasn't happened in over a month now, so I'll mark this solved. It probably was some kind of interference like R00KIE said.

Re: [SOLVED] Randomly repeating character '5'

Well I still have that problem. Never on Windows though, so even if it is some interference, it only causes problems in linux/Gnome hmm
And I don't know what causes this "interferences" (if there actually are). I can eliminate my mobile, it happens even if my mobile is three rooms away. How do I find out what could cause this?
Sometimes its days without any repeating, sometimes its day after day, reboot after reboot. It's really really annoying.

My keyboard is a Logitech K520.

Please don't necrobump, inside-hex, especially when the thread is marked as solved. After being here for eight years, you should know better.
