[ Solved ] Brother MFC-L8850 CDW driver black & white only

I wanted to share my solution after several hours of poking around. The problem I encountered was that the tailored Network Driver for my Brother MFC L 8850 CDW only did black and white, whereas the laser printer is designed to do color aswell, the generic driver doesn't include color.

This fix should work for all of these Brother printer versions:

1. I downloaded the compressed Shell Script from Brother here

2. I then extracted the shell script and chmodded it to 0755

3. I ran the shell script and input my printer model # as specified in the list above when asked for it - in my case the exact input was: MFC-L8850CDW

4. I hit enter to most questions and it automatically added the driver and printer to my Gnome Printer area (I think it's a PPD PostScript Printer Wrapper or something like that which can be changed by clicking on the invisible drop down when the printer is unlocked.)
