Touchpad - [libinput] thumb detection

I've noted that libinput handles touches differently from evdev or synaptics. Sometimes when using the touchpad some touches get completly ignored. This happens after some event, like clicking (tap to click), or when animations are triggered in gnome (like opening the app drawer). It could also be simply the place I'm touching on the touchpad. My touchpad is rather slim (it is wider than taller by a factor of 2) and after reading the docs I'm now suspecting of thumb detection.

Does anyone knows how to disable this feature?

Edit : After some testing, I've confirmed that the issue has nothing to do with system events. It is only related to the place I'm touching on the touchpad. Try, for instance, moving the cursor by starting at the very bottom edge of the touchpad, you will (hopefully) notice that the gesture was ignored. This feature (of thumb detection) is taking too much space on the bottom of my touchpad.
