[Solved] League of Legends wine black login screen

Hey guys,

I've been running into a small issue with my league installation running with wine lately, where I'm confronted with a black login screen (launcher is working fine). I'm not really sure what's causing this since I was able to play flawlessly a couple of days ago. This is what it looks like:

I uploaded the command line output here. I'm guessing it has something to do with this error message much at the very end,

err:winsock:WSAIoctl -> _WSAIO(IOC_WS2, 23) request failed with status 0x2733

but I couldn't find a solution with google. I initially got it working following the nice wiki entry here and soft linked my windows partition with the LoL folder into my wine dir. The wiki mentions libgl packages for a black launcher but they are all installed. The command I use to launch is:

WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 wine .wine32/drive_c/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends/lol.launcher.exe

 
I'm using the winepulse driver and the have the following packages installed:

wine-staging 1.8rc2-1
winetricks 20151116-1
lib32-nvidia-libgl 358.16-1
lib32-nvidia-utils 358.16-1
nvidia 358.16-2.1
nvidia-libgl 358.16-1
nvidia-utils 358.16-1
LoL: 5.23
x86_64 Linux 4.2.5-1-ARCH

I can still play when switching to Windows so it's not a big deal just a bit inconvenient. Please let me know if you need further information. Any help is highly appreciated .

Did League have an update a few days ago when it was working? It is possible they had an update and that has broken the install. It happens. What version of wine are you running? Can you think of any changes made to your system between the time it worked til the time it stopped. Are wininet and ie8 installed via winetricks? Check this wiki...

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes they are releasing updates all the time so nothing I can do there. The install seems to be fine since starting it from windows works - I'm guessing there is something wrong with my wine. I'm running the latest wine-staging 1.8rc2-1, but I've just tested 1.7.53-2 and 1.7.55-1 just to see if that might be the issue but with no success. Wininet and ie8 are both installed.

There seems to be a minor patch release or something similar today, anyway the issue is resolved now. I had to remove wininet since I had a login timeout but besides that, everything is fine. Marking as solved.
