[SOLVED] Java disable in firefox for non-root user

Recently java broke in firefox for non-root user in my system. If I sudo firefox, java works in firefox so my jre and icedtea seem to be installed correctly. Any one know if firefox or Icedtea recently made a change and how to reenable. Currently running firefox 42.0-2 and icedtea 1.6.1-1

about:config in firefox shows

javascript.enabled;true

Are you referring to java or javascript?

Give us the URL of a site that breaks, to avoid ambiguity.

Re: [SOLVED] Java disable in firefox for non-root user

http://javatester.org/version.html shows "Browser has Java diabled" when firefox is run as regular user and correctly shows Java version 1.8.0_66 when firefox is run as root.

Could this be a possible pluginreg.dat issue for your regular user?

Perhaps follow the "Firefox detects the wrong version of my plugin" section on...
