[SOLVED] Failed to start initilizes pacman keyring

Good morning fellows,

I could use some help with my installation.

My system: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 mobo, Changed my parameters in my BIOS to conform to UEFI mode and Secure Boot changed to OTHER OS.

Installing Arch via LIVE USB using Rufus
Connectivity: Wired and connected
Partition Table:       MBR: Protective
                               GPT: Present

Everything up to my issue are correct without errors.

My issue; Installing base packages. Upon entering the command " pacstrap -i /mnt base base-devel " (without quotes) the output is as follow;

Downloading of packages successful without problems BUT soon after and before actually installing, I get this;

(140/140) checking keys in keyring
downloading required keys...

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
==> ERROR: Failed to install packages to new root

I decided to shutdown for the night and during its shutdown checklist I get this;

[FAILED] Failed unmounting /run/archiso/bootmnt - I presume this is my USB (I don't think this is a problem with the keyring but thought I would post it anyway)

The following morning, I turned my computer on with a possible solution. During its startup checklist I get this;

[FAILED] Failed to initializes pacman keyring.

Automatically logged as root, my possible solution was to enter the following command: pacman-key --populate archlinux       Source: https://bugs.archlinux.org/feed.php?fee … &project=6    (2nd post, titled: FS#47351)    Unsuccessful

I appreciate any help given. Thank you.

Shawn

Welcome to the Arch Linux forums.
Please use BBCode code tags when posting program output.  I will abuse my power and add them this time smile
Note that the link I provided is also available below each message post box on the forums.

Did you have an internet connection when you tried that command?  What kind of Internet connection do you plan to use?

Thank you ewaller for showing me the BBCode. I'm unfamiliar with them but I will use them from now on smile

I did have a connection, still do. This computer will stay wired by Ethernet.

Thanks Jay. The solution for me was to change from IPv6 to IPv4 smile
