Hi, I just set Arch up on an Acer Aspire V3-371. It has a Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 wireless adapter and it uses the ath9k kernel module.
Initially the Wifi refused to connect completely with an error message "wlp2s0: link is not ready" after 3 tries to connect, so I had to use an ethernet cable, but all of a sudden wifi started working, but only on battery mode. Wifi started working after I installed tlp. Wifi shows connected even when plugged in, but nothing works. The pages load indefinitely and pacman downloads just halt. As soon as I unplug, everything starts working, the pages load and the downloads continue.
I don't think this issue has anything to do with the network manager because it shows connected at all times, but nevertheless I am using kde's default network manager which I think is NetworkManager.
Has anyone else ever faced a similar issue? Please help. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: It seems like tlp is what does the magic. If I plug in then do this to switch tlp to the battery mode profile:
# tlp batThen Wifi works again. I have ever since messed a lot with the tlp config file but I am unable to get tlp to apply this same magic in the ac profile.

I know nothing of tlp, but the wiki has the following caution:
You should also disable the systemd service systemd-rfkill.service to avoid conflicts and assure proper operation of TLP's radio device switching options. Did you do that?

Did you try
WIFI_PWR_ON_AC=5yet?

Thanks for replying. ewaller I did that while installing. It was tlp that made the wifi work in the first place. And linrunner yes I did that too, but it didn't work. I even adjusted the pcie setting to match the ac setting to the battery one. The only setting that is left is the SATA link power management apart from the radeon and nvidia settings that are of no use to me and I am going to try that now, I mean right now. I don't think it will help though since it seems completely unrelated.
EDIT: IT WORKED! I JUST DUNNO HOW. But it did. So if anyone else is having this issue install tlp and set SATA_LINKPWR_ON_AC=min_power in /etc/default/tlp

Very strange.

Yes, strange indeed; I have yet to figure out how that worked.
