[SOLVED] Cannot start "/usr/bin/sendmail"

i try to send a message to root, but failed with:

[lee@matrix Desktop]$ mail root
Subject: hello
Cannot start "/usr/bin/sendmail": executable not found (adjust *sendmail* variable)
"/home/lee/dead.letter" 5/88
... message not sent

here is session message:

[lee@matrix Desktop]$ who
lee     tty1         2016-01-05 18:17

Have you installed a package which provides sendmail?

Here are a few of them

$ pkgfile /usr/bin/sendmail
extra/msmtp-mta
extra/postfix
extra/ssmtp
community/esmtp
community/exim
community/nullmailer
community/opensmtpd

i've installed opensmtpd package

[lee@matrix Desktop]$ mail root
Subject: hello
[lee@matrix Desktop]$ sendmail: error in offline directory setup

[lee@matrix Desktop]$ 

what that "sendmail: error in offline directory setup" mean?

Ok, you've installed it.  Have you configured it?  Have you started it?

Setting up a mail server is not trivial.  It's not hard, but it's more than just installing a package.
