I have four disks with two partitions, each set of partitions part of a different four-device RAID (0 & 10). Both arrays are healthy, but I'd like to replace one of the disks (swap SATA 3 with SATA 2). I figure I'll stop the RAID 0 until the swap on the 10 is complete to avoid any complications. But does anyone know if the "--replace X --with Y" method works for a RAID 0? It's just throw-away data, so I'll probably try it unless someone knows it doesn't work. Thanks.

But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.

Finally got around to doing this. Not surprisingly, mdadm doesn't allow adding a spare to a RAID 0. So much for the UNIX philosophy and not preventing "stupid... clever things". ![]()
