Knowing which package will need to upgrade
Hello,
I like programming in python, I've some idea to query alpm.
I'm curious to know whether exists a way that will tell which package(s) need to upgrade, without modifying the database. Obviously it doesn't mean to backup the DBs and restore them after.
do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint

You could take a look at the checkupdates script and see how that checks for updates.

I was confused to find checkupdates. Then the script does a copy of the databases and query those.
