Hi all, my problem is a bit strange. The screen on my laptop won't turn back on after I resume from sleep, but only when X is not running, or has not previously run. The tty is working just fine (I can type commands blind and they'll run, like "sudo reboot", for instance). Here are some scenarios:
If I boot, and then sleep without having run an X server, upon resume, the screen won't turn on and starting X won't turn it on either (I assume X starts up fine, though).
If I boot, run X, and then sleep, upon resume, the screen will turn on, and everything will work.
If I boot, run X, close X, and then sleep, upon resume, the screen won't turn on, but starting X does turn it on. Switching to any other tty will turn the screen off again.
I do not know how long this has been a problem, as it's only recently that I've become interested in running without X.
Here's dmesg after boot, including a suspend and resume that resulted in a black tty:

I am using nvidia drivers with nvidia-304xx 304.131-2.1 and linux 4.2.5-1.
I am not using the latest driver and kernel packages (304.131-3 and 4.3.3-2 respectively) because of an issue with the latest nvidia module. To downgrade the nvidia package, I needed to downgrade the kernel too.
Any light anyone can shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
