I'm using an Arch + GNOME combination with a Yamaha Steinberg UR-44 interface, which seems to work out of the box with Linux when in CC mode.
Sort of.
After even a couple of seconds of non-playback time, and then playing something again, the sound mutes itself, and then my only option is to wait until it decides to unmute itself (which doesn't happen often enough to neglect the issue). I should note that the mute doesn't seem to affect the volume bars. It is as though it was functioning normally.
Once that happens, any sort of fiddling with the volume results in a permanent system freeze out of which there is no other way than forcibly turning off the laptop.
Now, sound is something I never really understood in Linux. I've been told it's one big mess etc., so I have practically no idea where to even start troubleshooting. Any help would be appreciated.
OK, that's really bad from my side and I apologize. I probably posted in the wrong section.
// EDIT 16-01-15:
Looks like I have managed to get it working! There are some other issues left, but they do not belong in this thread. Anyway, here's what I did:
- Installed jack2-dbus.
- Installed pulseaudio-jack
- Configured jack2-dbus with qjackctl so that JACK audio server starts when the system boots
After that, the sound worked for the whole day, and it still does. Thread can be marked as solved.
