how to creating italic style while there is regular font only

This wiki link https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/fo … lete_fonts says it possible to create italic font but I cannot find the cache file described.

I am also posting this question here http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … gular-font

Re: how to creating italic style while there is regular font only

It would appear that fc-cache no longer writes a cache to /usr/share/fonts/.  See the output of

$ sudo fc-cache -v

for relevant cache directories.  Also the Fontconfig Users Guide might be helpful.  What exactly are you trying to do?  It appears the wiki was merely trying to demonstrate you can force renderings of italic and bold styles if necessary but usually software handles that.
