Could not update Chromium 47 -> 48. File conflict reported: chromium: /usr/lib/chromium/libwidevinecdmadapter.so
Does anyone else have the same issue?

See: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chromium-widevine/
You need to update chromium-widevine before you update chromium.

The op likely has an out-of-sync mirror... there is no reason to build anything from the AUR to install an official package.

In this case it's needed; the libwidevinecdmadapter.so file that was previously included in chromium-widevine is now shipped in the chromium package.
The relevant comment by Doug is:
I've been talking with foutrelis, he's going to ship the adapter lib as part of the chromium package. This will simplify things here in that we'll no longer be tied to a specific version of chromium and the versioned dep will go away.
Since this will create a file conflict, it will require you to update this package to 1:1.4.8.824-2 BEFORE updating to chromium 48.0.2564.82. Alternatively, you could uninstall this package first, do the upgrade, then reinstall.
1:1.4.8.824-2 will be available when chromium is updated in the repos.

Thank you Ledti, graysky and foutrelis. I had chromium-widevine updated already. I have followed foutrelis/Doug advice except one thing.
..."Alternatively, you could uninstall this package first, do the upgrade, then reinstall"...
I have uninstalled this package (chromium-widevine) then easily updated Chromium 47 -> 48 but have not installed chromium-widevine again. I suppose this was moved to Chromium package, so there is no need to install it separately. Am I right ? If yes I shall be happy to mark this as SOLVED.
Anyway, Chromium update is done and it works without chromium-widevine installed beside.

There was probably something wonky going on with whatever tool you use to update AUR packages.
chromium-widevine is only necessary if you want to watch Netflix or Amazon Instant Video, otherwise you don't need it.

The adapter lib was moved to the chromium package. You still need chromium-widevine for the actual CDM if you want to watch DRM protected video.

Many thanks Ledti and Scimmia. You are right. To watch some videos I need chromium-widevine package installed. I have done it just a minute ago. Everything works OK. Do you think I may need to follow the same procedure when upgrading Chromium next time?

No, this should be a one-time thing. If anything changes, it will be noted in the comments on the AUR page.

Thanks.
