[SOLVED]Steam libGL error:unable to load driver

I am trying to install Steam on Arch linux (no Desktop) but it fails to launch. I had it working a year or so ago. I tried vesa and open source amd drivers with no luck (32 and 64 bit installed). Here is the output when trying to start Steam:

The closest I was able to get to Steam starting is force removing vesa drivers (Steam dependency) after Steam was installed:

sudo pacman -Rdd lib32-mesa-libgl

This allowed steam to start and update but then an error message complained about missing drivers, after hitting enter to continue the screen remained blank.

I also tried everything related in the wiki with no change.

Anyone got Steam running on AMD APU?

Yes, I tried those steps but no luck. Something has changed as there is not even any files with "libstd" in the their names.

Then perhaps it's using the system libs already and they are just incompatible because of the C++ ABI bump. Did you try with libraries from before and after that update?

What is C++ ABI bump exactly and which libraries should I try? I also did a clean reinstall with similar issues. I got a terms of service window but after accepting the screen stays black.

I got it working in the end, I wrote an article about this but posting blog links is against the rules as was pointed out to me.

I'm glad you resolved your problem, but please stop spamming links to your blog. If the wiki needs improving, feel free to contribute there, however, unless you're going to maintain these blog posts indefinitely, they will eventually become out-of-date and cause problems for people trying to follow them.

For the record, removing the shared objects is a very transient workaround -- steam will reinstall these shared objects when it updates. The wiki has more permanent solutions.

Plenty of outdated of wikis out there so that's not really a valid point but fair enough, missed that rule. Please go ahead and remove my previous post as I can't seem to do that.

You could do the same. You can spend all your life fixing wikis and there would still be plenty of outdated wikis.

A community supported wiki will never be perfect, but it is maintained by a community: new eyes can always come in to improve it. Your blog is just yours. If a whole community can't get it perfect, the thought that you can just reveals astounding arrogance. In any case, you've ensure this thread will only further be derailed.
