Searching for the package 'sdl-ball' with 'yaourt -Ss' , 'cower -u' or the aur-web-search nothing is found.
But cloning with git works. Running this
git clone ssh://aur@aur.archlinux.org/sdl-ball.git
results in a directoy 'sdl-ball' with the PKGBUILD in it.
Any ideas why searching for the package gives no result?

Presumably the package has been deleted for some reason.
When a package is deleted, its AUR page is deleted but the git repository with the history is not deleted. It can still be cloned, if you have reason to suspect its existence.
(You can also easily undelete a package by cloning then pushing it.)
