Problem with icons in folders

When I set the icon I want for an application some of the other applications in the folder also take the same icon. example: I use a program called gramps when I select its icon gftp also takes that icon and vis versa. How can I prevent this from happening..

I use KDE.

Re: Problem with icons in folders

Can you be a little more specific on what you do to "set the icon", and where is this folder that you refer to & what are its contents (as in just shortcuts, desktop files, etc)?

Re: Problem with icons in folders

I have a folder on my desktop called applications, in this folder I have several links to applications. If I try to change the icon to represent the application ie; gramps any other links where I have an icon "ie: gftp",  changes to the one for gramps.

Re: Problem with icons in folders

I tried to duplicate your issue by dragging several Kmenu launchers to an empty folder on my desktop, and then used the right-click properties window on those launchers to change the assoicated icon. However, at no time did these changes impact any of the other launcher icons in that folder. They remained in their previous state.
