Awesome WM - Can't close windows with Mod4+Shift+C

Hey everyone,

somehow I can't close windows by using the key combination Mod4+Shift+C, while other actions seems to work. When I try to close a window, the mouse cursor shows up and the client seems to lose focus, but it is focused again after releasing the keys. If I rebind the close client action to another combination, of which I know it works (e.g. Mod4+Control+R), I can close windows. I changed the modkey to Mod1 (because my only super key is on the right), but the problem stays the same.

For completeness, here's my rc.lua, but I haven't really changed it much.

Re: Awesome WM - Can't close windows with Mod4+Shift+C

Okay, I found the source of the problem, but I still could not solve it.

My 00-keyboard.conf:

Section "InputClass"
	Identifier "keyboard defaults"
	MatchIsKeyboard "on"

	Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
	Option "XkbLayout" "de,de"
	Option "XkbVariant" ",dvorak"
	Option "XkbOptions" "grp:rctrl_rshift_toggle"
EndSection

If I remove the second layout and variant, everything works as it should and I can close windows. But as soon as I have a second layout and variant in the file, I can't. The XkbOptions don't seem to have any influence on the problem, as I can completely leave it out and the problem is still there.

Does anyone have an idea what I can do about it without leaving out the second layout?

Re: Awesome WM - Can't close windows with Mod4+Shift+C

You could just use another keyboard combination that will work on both layouts.  It's your machine you can use any key combination for any function you want.  You aren't restrained or strapped down to having any particular look or operation.  Don't know the differences between the layouts, so I can't help there.

You might try using xev and see what's different about it.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Re: Awesome WM - Can't close windows with Mod4+Shift+C

Thanks for your response.

The problem is not, that the layouts don't work with the combinations, but rather that the combination stops working as soon as a second layout is defined. I'm not even switching before trying to close a window. When there's only "de" in the layout option and i leave out the variants option (or use "") the Mod4+Shift+C combination works.

Re: Awesome WM - Can't close windows with Mod4+Shift+C

Unfortunately no, sorry. I just went with only one keyboard layout.
