Re: Touchpad stop working after kernel update

If you put elantech site:bbs.archlinux.org in google search you'll find 3 results for the last week.
I mean you may find more feedback with a joint thread.
Try it with xev.

The second one, ive tried it and dont seams to work.
For the last one, my mouse was all good before update so i dont think this is related to me. hmm

Re: Touchpad stop working after kernel update

Have you rolled back your kernel to the last known good version to make sure it is actually the kernel package on its own?

Re: Touchpad stop working after kernel update

Here is some update,
So i've downgrade to kernel 4.3.3-3 and Voila, mouse work again, so that's totally kernel related.

Is there a way to correct that or its impossible ?
If not i cant update kernel for now ?

Re: Touchpad stop working after kernel update

In these cases, you should keep waiting until a new kernel is coming up. Before you'll upgrade take a snapshot of your system, in order to go back (if necessary). Then you may try the newest kernel.

Re: Touchpad stop working after kernel update

I've been having the same problem on a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q888 since I updated to kernel 4.4, although my touchpad model is different (SynPS/2 Synaptics instead of Elantech):

# xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2	[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4	[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Razer Razer DeathAdder id=9	[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=12	[slave pointer (2)]
[...]

It seems that this issue has already been taken care of:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108481

So, hopefully our touchpads will work again once we update to kernel 4.5.
