Redownload pacnew file

Got myself in a rather dumb scenario and messed up my mirrorlist.pacnew file, losing it in the progress alongside my mirrorlist file. I still have a backup, but it speaks for itself I'd like to update it.

If I reinstall the pacman-mirrorlist it does not download the pacnew file. How can I fix this situation and force downloading the latest mirrorlist?

Re: Redownload pacnew file

Extract it from the cached package.

# cd /
# bsdtar xf /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pacman-mirrorlist-20160124-1-any.pkg.tar.xz etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

(EDIT: note this will override your existing mirrorlist)

You could also generate a mirrorlist here, or by using reflector.

Re: Redownload pacnew file

If you deleted both mirrorlist and mirrorlist.pacnew then re-installed pacman-mirrorlist it should have installed mirrorlist which is identical to the mirrorlist.pacnew it originally installed.
