hp evy x360 m6 touchscreen not working

Hello,

I got myself a shiny new laptop, an HP Envy x360 M6. Everything is working except for my touchscreen. I know there's a functional driver for it, as on the live USB I can use cat on its device node to get output, but I get no output on my actual install. I did my best to try and see what my live USB is doing that my installation isn't, to no avail.

I searched high and low for a solution on Google and these forums and tried many many things, including removing and modprobing kernel modules.

xinput (The SYNA7501:00 I believe is the device. It is an i2c device, best I can tell, as neither lspci or lsusb can see it.)

Is there any other terminal output I need? How can I get my touchscreen working?

Re: hp evy x360 m6 touchscreen not working

Let's try this.  That which you think is the touchscreen (and I agree) is mapped to input 10 and seems to be associated with a mouse driver.
Run sudo od -x /dev/input/envent10   and touch your screen,  It should spew forth a hex dump of the raw data coming from the device.

Also, if you could post provide a link to the contents of your Xorg log.

Re: hp evy x360 m6 touchscreen not working

I ran od -x on both event10 and event11, mapped to this device, and got no output.

This is consistent with the problem I'm having (Device apparently detected and set up, but not reading input?)

Re: hp evy x360 m6 touchscreen not working

I have identified the kernel module that sets up teh device nodes, it is hid-multitouch.

I did a journalctl -b | grep -i multitouch and got this output. I am not sure what to do with it, but could putting this driver into early userspace prevent something from conflicting with whatever it's supposed to be doing?

Feb 07 10:23:25 apollo kernel: hid-multitouch 0018:06CB:12B8.0002: input,hidraw0: I2C HID v1.00 Device [SYNA7501:00 06CB:12B8] on i2c-SYNA7501:00

Edit: Early userspace did not work. Judging my the journal it didn't even modprobe the driver since the system name was set according to the journal.
