ati+archck = somewhat rare error message [SOLVED]

After recent update latest ati drivers (ati-fglrx-archck 8.23.7-2) and latest archck(kernel26archck 2.6.15.archck7-4) i have no direct rendering and "(EE) fglrx(0): Hardware already been locked. " in xorg log ... respectively

I had the same error, you updated ati-fglrx-utils to version 8.24.8, which is incompatible with ati-fglrx-archck (version 8.23.7). You have two possibilities :

- Downgrading ati-fglrx-utils to 8.23.7 (you can find it in my repo, cf signature) is the easiest way.

- Install kernel26beyond and ati-fglrx-beyond (easy too, works great here).

I would go for the second solution, because kernel26archck is is no longer being maintained.

I've installed beyond kernel and ati drivers as you advised - direct rendering now works flawlessly. Thanks!
