Macbook Pro (11,3) GDM Screen Tearing

Hi All,

I have recently installed Arch Linux on my laptop and I have an issue to do with screen tearing. I am running the latest kernel (4.4.1-2) and have the latest drivers and Xorg release. Basically when the laptop boots i have systemctl to start GDM automatically, when the screen switches from the console and GDM launches i get screen tearing, also when I then login into gnome from GDM i get screen tearing before the desktop loads.

My thoughts so far are that this is related to resolution, as the Macbook Pro is a retina hi dpi screen the console on is in the native retina resolution, when it launches GDM the resolution is different again.

Any thoughts on how to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance guys
