Is this a new thing with this kernel?
Does it happen at every boot?
It is a USB related issue, have you tried unplugging all the USB devices you can?  Does it help?
Is this an Intel processor?  Have you installed and configured the microcode updates

Could you please post the full output of journalctl -b --no-pager  ?

Some more details which I missed.
This is affecting USB Devices behavior, I'm not able to use services around MTP or USB Eth anymore.
Running anything like 'lsusb' or 'mtp-detect' just gets stuck.

Yes, it just started happening recently... I did a full system update recently as well updating kernel also. I'm not very sure if it was right after.
As in, things were working with initial setup on this machine.

Yes, I've tried it multiple times with multiple devices. Doesn't help.

For microcode, I think I did.
I've UEFI set-up and 'initrd         /intel-ucode.img' is part of my entries file.

My understanding is there was no response from the original reporter to the request to test with that commit reverted so no further action occurred.

One thing... ArchLinux Package for Linux have latest time-stamped "linux" package as 4.4.1-2; but the latest kernel version there seems to be 4.4.4 (or am I wrong in that version comparison).

If yes, then does "pacman" updates based on timestamp order instead of version.
And then I can just do a forceful upgrade to 4.4.4.
