[SOLVED] How to fix issue with opensource software manually

At this time i have three problems in different products:

Audacious:
Allow vector fonts in rolled-up playlist
    http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/501

Linux kernel:
audio over HDMI on AMD E-350 with radeon driver
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85241

Pulseaudio/GDM:
unplugging headphones sets volume to 0
    https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93259

I need some guidance. Because having desire to help developers and spending my time brought nothing but headache.
Please explain me, what should i do next in order to get the solution of this issues. I am not stupid, not lazy. I have
desire to spend my time on contribution. But the reality is that i can't start from something. It's difficult to me
to get some real contact with somebody from support.
My friends says me that it is normal to get respond from a developer 3-4 month, or even one year. Why not, really?
But i still believe that there is something wrong with me, not with that wonderful developers who are really so busy
that can't drop you a line.

The main goal of this post is to discuss my problems with community of Arch Users.

UPD:
Looks like i am really idiot or a freak. How irc works?
I've asked questions on two channel about another problem
related to wpa_supplicant, these are my messages:

At irc.freenode.net #archlinux-newbie
<nartes> hi, I am trying to establish connection via wpa_supplicant, but there are errors in EAP authentication.
<nartes> I've tried to setup wpa_supplicant manually without NetworkManager. But the result is the same. Where i can get help?
<nartes> I am frustrated about spending my time on it and having zero result for a long time.
<nartes> this is a log from wpa_cli: http://pastebin.com/Lhn3Z5R4
<phrik> Title: <3>CTRL-EVENT-SSID-REENABLED id=0 ssid="eduroam" <3>SME: Trying to authenticate - Pastebin.com (at pastebin.com)
<nartes> the discussion with administrator of access point at my university gave nothing
<nartes> the only thing i know is that my android phone with the same wpa_supplicant config establish everything perfectly.

At irc.freenode.net #linux-wireless
* Topic for #linux-wireless set by linville!~linville@sapphire.tuxdriver.com (Fri Jun 17 22:13:45 2011)
<nartes> hi can't have some issue with eap authentication in wpa_supplicant
<nartes> can't connect and*
<nartes> the most funny is that android phone with wpa_supplicant 2.0 connects succefully, but laptop with wpa_supplicant 2.5 fails all the time
<nartes> the configuration of wpa_supplicant.conf is identical to android phone, even tried manually with wpa_cli, but it says all the time failed on eap authentification
<nartes> should i provide some info, it's better to ask somewhere else? i think it's not a bug, so don't go to bugzilla. Maybe it's difficult to understand me and should provide info to dev mailing list? Please answer somebody.

* vmraj (~rmanohar@202.46.23.62) has joined

How to get it works? Why i can't get an reply from this sources of communications?
I understand that it varies, understand that people really can be busy.
But how can i communicate with if it my first time.
When i have contacts in life, e.g. after Linux Conference, then i usually
easily can ask man about something related to his competency. But what are
the ways of communicating with "hackers".

Actually this post http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html is the most wastefull
thing i've ever read. It showes you how to alter you expectations. And as a result you accept
relationships that you are not satisfied with.

UPD:

Apologize for being a jerk.

UPD2:
> Linux kernel:

This one has been fixed with linux kernel package of the version 4.7-1.
In the bugzilla thread, another user pointed to a commit that was landed
at 4.6-rc4. Looks like it was really that, the solution of a problem.

Two months ago, I've watched the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXi0ByVTFyY
from XDC 2015 about amdgpu updates. I decided
that the developers are really busy with supporting their new products
and has no time solving the issue with the radeon driverr. The new one
open source driver by AMD is called amdgpu.

But after a while, during the March, they are releasing a patch
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel … c977e6acdc that
solves the issue with the radeon driver.

It's wonderful, because I gave up investigating it myself.

Re: [SOLVED] How to fix issue with opensource software manually

I filed a bug for udiskie last week and it was fixed inside 12 hours, and in our repos two days later. It varies.

Re: [SOLVED] How to fix issue with opensource software manually

I've been affected by two bugs for quite a while now. Same situation: I don't know how to fix them by myself and the developers don't seem to care about them. One GCC dev even claims the broken feature would be an odd feature anyways.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358926
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=66145

If you're asking such specific questions on the official Arch Linux IRC channel it is not very likely that you receive a useful response.
When asking on the IRC channel of the particular project I usually get very helpful response. However, sometimes you will have to wait some time to get a response. It is a good idea to use an IRC bouncer. The setup of ZNC is very easy and it works very well for me.

Since Audacious seems to be developed on GitHub, just fork their repository, apply your patch, pull your changes and file a merge request.  If you explain in the commit message what you did and why they should accept your request.
