xine + wmv + user = error

So, all of a sudden (really i mean one minute it's fine the next it's not) xine and totem-xine cannot play wmv or xvid files. Root can but users cannot.

I've spent the last week pacman -S ing, pacman -R ing, checking permissions and deleting config files to no avail. The only thing i havent done is enable the testing repo and try any pkg's there.

Can someone offer some hints or not so obvious things i should be looking for?

possibly is that you are missing some of the wmv codecs.

try putting wmv8ds32.ax wmvdmoe2.dll and wmvds32.ax from a xp install.  These aren't in the codecs package.
