I am trying to install libgl-dri and I get an error that states that it conflicts with nvidia. If I remove nvidia, I can install libgl-dri but then when I try to install nvidia, it conflicts with libgl-dri. How do I get around this circular dependency/conflict?

i have this same question. some games (in the repos) require libgl-dri, but i need nvidia installed to graphic acceleration - should nvidia satisfy the libgl-dri dependency?

It does. What packages do you refer to?

tuxkart is the only one i can find at the moment, i thought there was another but i could be wrong. it's in the community repo, i just realized.

I just uploaded tuxkart 0.4.0-4. That should fix the issue. You'll need to wait until the repos db gets updated. That version won't require to have libgl-dri install. It'll work with the nvidia and ati drivers. If it doesn't, let me know.
The problem was that I've put libgl-dri in the depends instead of libgl. libgl is a virtual dependency that is provided by either libgl-dri, nvidia or ati drivers. If other packages in the repos or in AUR explitely depends on libgl-dri, notify the maintainer to replace that to libgl.

I once looked for packages depending on libgl-dri explicitly, and besides tuxkart there was another one in community, but I can't remember now.

the Xorg7 wiki page talks about what to do with that conflict, but im not sure why its telling you X is running when you dont even have it installed.
